ACCEPTING HORROR ADJACENT NARRATIVE SHORT FILMS MADE IN MICHIGAN, U.S.A.
...
What counts as horror?
Anything!
Horror can take on many forms. Existential, atmospheric. Uncanny, or even jump worthy.
Ideally, we love unrecognized talent that’s trying something new, AND WE LOVE GENRE-BENDING, but don’t overthink it. If you truly believe your short will match the aesthetic we’re bringing to Pontiac this October, don’t hesitate. We’d be happy to have you!
As a filmmaker, you’ll have access to:
Your work shared with other passionate Michigan filmmakers, on the screen of a beautiful, historic venue in the heart of Pontiac.
Taped roundtable Q&A discussions after your premiere, talking about your film and the process of its creation.
A themed drink in the café based on your film!
Potential networking with other Michigan horror filmmakers and actors.
Any requirements?
Recommending Michigan-made shorts for easier travel, though not a requirement, as long as you're attending.
Must be horror or horror adjacent.
Must be under 15 minutes.
Your film must've been made in the past five years to show off current talents.
If selected, this is a networking event. If you cannot make it, we'll have to exclude your project.
You must have clearance to ALL media featured in your project. The responsibility can fall on us if we decide to broadcast snippets of your film online. No copyrighted material!
We don’t mind if your short has been screened elsewhere!
We don’t mind if your short is public online!
Will there be promo codes for filmmakers this year?
In 2025, when we collaborated with Emagine Entertainment, there was more wiggle room as the venue was paid for upfront. But The PLAT is a mom and pop venue run by a small team - financial success will be more of a necessity this year.
Although promo codes will be unavailable, we promise to make it a great night for everyone involved!
How and where do I submit?
Either via FILMFREEWAY or sending a link to your film over Instagram DM’s @deltonfilm.
Thank you all so much! We look forward to viewing your entries.
